AE CS3 ST: Call for Footage

In the last post I alluded to the next edition of After Effects Studio Techniques. Following is a little more info and a request.

This edition of the book will be an improvement over the last in that it will actually be about 15% shorter, due to increased printing costs; we’re avoiding raising the price, as is happening these days. That doesn’t sound like an improvement if you think more is better – but for me, it’s an excercise in expanding the information in the book while tightening the writing. Instead of cutting a chapter or two, which would be the easy way out, because I like the way the book is organized, my efforts are focused on a line-by-line copy edit of the entire thing.

It’s a lot of work.

Anyhow, it’s late in the game to be requesting this, but I’ve decided to try the power of the internet – if you, or someone you know, have high-quality HD footage from an independent production, and have the rights (including any talent sign-offs) to allow its use for print and/or distribution via DVD, please contact me right away at aestudiotechniques@gmail.com. Just plain beautiful shots are great, as are plates shot for various types of effects (motion tracking, sky replacement, pyro, you name it) – just send web links or stills, and your work could be immortalized in full color (especially since we’re not lowering the print quality to keep the book price steady).
