After Effects CS3 Studio Techniques: In The Can

I should by all rights be drinking champagne this evening, given that the final contents of the new book were all submitted first thing this morning. However, like so many creative projects, closure in this case feels quite anti-climactic and the only real closure comes from holding the printed copy in your hands. This “hands” date is now said to be November 19, the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address some uh, 7 score and 4 years ago. This date is listed at where even the publishing industry itself goes for updates on such matters.

I’ll have more to share about this book in the weeks to come – including an improvement on the cover currently seen online. For now, I’ll say that the structure of the book is largely the same but I did a line-by-line edit of the entire thing, reducing it by about 15% while adding content. Why? This dead-tree medium known as the book has become more expensive to produce since the last edition but the publisher and I agreed that we did not wish to raise the cover price. Therefore I decided that aggressively tightening the book (otherwise known in writing as “killing your babies”), though rather excruciating at times, could only serve to make a tighter and more readable book. I think we got there.
