Book Delays? Body Worlds!

bodyworldsMy contacts at Peachpit Press have been out for the holidays since the official release of the book and questions are coming in as to why amazon.com is telling people there’s a wait until Christmas Eve for CS3 Studio Techniques. This is all reminding me of 11 months ago when Rebel’s Guide released during the holidays and a similar wall of confusion had to be torn down. Bottom line: I highly doubt that there is truly a month-long wait for the book. More info when I have it.

Meanwhile, for those of you in the Bay Area, or planning visits here over the holidays, or perhaps those in St. Louis, Milwakee or Charlotte, I highly recommend a trip to Body Worlds (currently at the Tech Museum of Innovation). I further recommend spending the extra 4 bucks for the audio accompaniment, devoting around 3 hours to the experience, and not taking kids below 10 years or so.

The specific focus of the exhibit is the nervous system, but plastinated versions of every organ of the body in various awe-inspiring configurations are included. Meanwhile, there are many images I simply cannot get out of my head – a think, ropy root system of nerves extending from a brain. An exploded man. Is it art? Yes. Science? Heck yeah. The best of both, and the sum is even greater than its parts.
